Filter: Eriksen Keystone
Brand: Nørding Pipes
About Eriksen Filter pipe made by Nørding in Denmark:
With his background as a blacksmith and son of an engineer Erik is famous for inventing new pipes and his creativity hasn’t stopped. Together with his son Knud they decided to re-invent a pipe that Erik had success with in the 1980’s: The Eriksen filter pipe.
The mission was:
· Find some way to make an affordable pipe for beginners and/or pipesmokers/pipe users who primarily use the pipe for smoking and are not “collectors”.
· Make sure that it is easy to use. Easy to light, smoke and little maintenance.
· Make sure you easily can smoke all the tobacco.
· Make it funny and stand out.
The result is the Eriksen Filter pipe (the surname Eriksen means the son of Erik in Danish). The stem and shank (bottom base) is made of hard nylon plastic in blue, black and white. The bottom part has room for adding the Nørding Keystones. These high absorbing volcanic clay pellets can be uses in any kind of pipe and will absorb excess condensation, while you smoke. Just put some Keystones into the bowl and fill it with tobacco. It also gives you a better chance of smoking the entire load of tobacco as there will be no foul tasting wet tobacco in the bottom of the chamber.
The bowl is made of real briar wood and is available in different finishes. The draught hole is in the middle of the bowl and not in the side as in “normal pipes”.
The construction of the bottom base (shank and stem) combined with the keystones and placement of the draught hole ensures you a cool and dry smoke and no tobacco waste. A rubber band around the bottom part of the bowl makes the bowl sit tight.
With a price around 265 DKK you have a really good affordable smoking machine. You can construct your own pipe and/or buy extra bottom bases, bowls and rubber bands. Very simple.
About the keystones: Using the keystones you get a dry and cool smoke with the help of Nørding’s Keystones! We recommend to use these in the Eriksen Keystone Filter pipe but you can use them in normal pipes as well. Use 10-15 in the Eriksen pipe and 5-10 in a normal pipe. When tin box is empty you can refill from the Nørding Keystone refill back.
